As we approach our 13th year of Camperfest on the Roodee (Chester Racecourse) and the event gets more and more popular this is a short summary of some of the key facts about Camperfest.
The first and most important is that Camperfest takes place in the middle of Chester Racecourse and is not a “camping festival” as such. In fact, it runs side by side with the biggest Easter Food and Drink Festival anywhere in the UK.
It means that on your campsite doorstep, you have access over 3 days to 150 food and drink producers making some of the best street food and drink. The festival runs Saturday, Sunday Monday, from 10.00am until 6.00pm (5pm on the Monday) and you have unlimitedĀ free access included in your pitch fee.
There are many things in the day that you can take advantage of, like Free Kids cooking classes, these 45 minute classes show children from the age of 3-12 how to make all sorts of dishes and kids love the classes. There are adult cooking classes where you again create a meal under the guidance of some great chefs and eat what you cook.
Other features for campers include, the camperfest tipi hub, free childrens movies, your own dedicated bar and a programme of day time events just for campers. It’s a fabulous weekend.
The event is staged on the grass and despite the best efforts of the weather at times, we have always been able to get all our campers both on and off this huge fabulous field. We sometimes need to employ the assistance of our on site tractor but that isn’t a problem and our man Rob Emmerson is such a nice guy and so good to deal with, as anyone who he has helped will testify.
As well as temporary toilets and generators for power on site, we also have access to the jockeys and stable staff toilets and showers so you don’t need to “rough it” too much.
Of course the big bonus is you are walking distance from the city centre with access to all the shops, the theatre, restaurants, pubs, river, cathedral, art galleries, and and and! Chester just has so much to offer.
This truly is one of the few times in the year when you can holiday right in the centre of the beautiful city of Chester.
